Dumnonians

I Apologise for the lack of updates this month, work and family life have been quite hectic and coincided with me starting a part-time Masters degree in International Trade Law.

Anyway I've now settled into my new routine and am finding time to paint again.

I've just finished a Dumnonian unit and as ever all comments gratefully received:

In the books the Dumnonians are led by Mordred the King and the Numidian Sagramor. Both of these figures I intend to paint as character figures once the army is complete.

I planned to have two units of Dumnonians but the shields on these proved such a pain that I may drop that idea - time will tell.

That is now the four core infantry units completed for my army, I'll now be moving onto the skirmishers starting with the archers.

I'll be updating this blog once a week for the forseeable future (probably on Tuesday/Wednesday evenings) so please keep coming back.

Here are a few more pictures of the unit:

  1. Another lovely looking unit! I really like the colours you use for your Roman-British figures: not completely dull but subdued enough to give a lovely “Dark Age” feel to them. Great painting!

  3. Great work on the unit, and all the units in your blog. Is the banner a print or done by hand?

  5. Thanks for the comments everyone.

It's good to be painting and posting again.

The banner is a print - from Little Big Men Studios, its one of their Arthurian sheets. I wish I could paint that well.

  6. I like 'em! I wish I could add a more creatively worded compliment. They look good. Those aren't Silfor tufts on the bases, are they?

Your whole Arthurian project is super cool. You'll have to start consrtucting Dark Age forts and buildings soon!

  7. Beautiful painting! I like the idea of following Cornwell's fiction too - you can avoid all the hoo-hah about whether Arfur was historical or not with the excuse that you're wargaming the books.

  8. A friend turned me on to your blog. Love it. I have been wanting to do this with the Arthur Trilogy as well and his Viking saga as well. Good luck in your progress. I lead mountains for both Arthur and the vikings. One of them was going to be my winter project. You may have just helped me decide.

  9. They look superb! You really ought to give a little tutorial on how you base your figures.
